challenging golf course is just ten-minutes from Chalet In-The-Woods
Bed and Breakfast. Located on Highway 118, midway between Carnarvon and
West Guilford, on a hill overlooking Grass Lake. A beautiful 9-hole
course, and a lovely restaurant with an outdoor patio. This mature,
well-maintained course was built alongside beautiful Grass Lake, on
predominantly rolling terrain, is excellent for seniors and beginners
alike. The greens are of average-size, medium speed and flat, while the
extra wide fairways are rolling and heavily bedded with evergreens. Par

Haliburton

This family golf course
has a sign out front that reads, "Haliburton's Most Scenic Golf
Course," offering an array of beauty, ranging from the rolling
picturesque hills to the sparkling water of Kashagawigamog Lake. The
fairways are tree lined, but wide open and flat. The greens are
medium-sized, average in speed and mostly flat. The signature hole is
#8, a 206-yard, par 3, requiring a tee shot from a cliff with a
200-foot vertical drop. The view of Lake Kashagawigamog and the
surrounding area are breathtaking. Nestled amongst towering pines and
rolling hills of beautiful Haliburton Highlands, is the Haliburton Golf
Course. This 9 hole golf course is one of the area's oldest golf
courses dating back to 1932. The course's short yardage (2,425) causes
golfers to assume that this is an easy track. Those familiar with the
golf course know that the terrain is uneven, contains many hidden
hazards and often obscured greens combine to create a challenge capable
of testing the lowest handicapped golfers. Therefore, it may be enjoyed
by golfers of all skill levels. The eighth tee is their signature golf
hole, and has one of the most magnificent views of Lake Kashagawigamog

- follow County Road 21 toward Haliburton, about 8 KM from Hwy 35, turn
right on Kashagawigamog Lake Road, drive for 14km and golf course will
be on your right. Or continue on County Road 21 toward Haliburton to
County Road #1 (Hospital Road at Train and Plane Statue), follow for
3-4 km to Kashagawigamog Lake Rd, turn right and follow on Kashagawigamog
Lake Road for 2 km, golf course will be on your left.
From Haliburton
- travel West on Highland Street (main street – turns into County Rd 21)
to County Road #1 (Hospital Road at Train and Plane Statue), turn left
on County Road #1, follow for 3-4 km to Kashagawigamog Lk Rd, turn
right and follow on Kashagawigamog Lake Road for 2 km, golf course will
be on your left.
From Kinmount
– Take Highway 121 to County Road. #1. Right on County Road
#1
all the way to Kashagawigamog Lake Road, turn left on
Kashagawigamog Lake Road and follow for 2 km. Haliburton Highlands Golf
Course will be on your left.
Blairhampton
Golf Course — 705 286 1315 Located in the famed
Blairhampton Triangle, on Horseshoe Lake. Located off Horseshoe Road,
just North of Minden and features 18 holes and is noted for varied
terrain, lush fairways and its excellent greens-keeping. Par 72 - 6500
yds.

holes are well kept with mostly flat terrain and numerous water

Pinestone
Golf Course — 705 457 1800 This golf course,
located in the heart of Haliburton Highlands, is considered to be
Ontario's best-kept golf secret. The layout is spread over 162 acres
and offers an unparalleled setting where lakes, forest and wildlife
abound. The course weaves its way through scenic valleys and over
rolling, forested hills, providing an array of panoramic vistas. The
narrow, tree-lined fairways and subtle elevation changes will leave you
second guessing club selection on more than one occasion. This is a
shotmaker's course that requires players to utilize a wide variety of
shots in their repertoire. The signature hole is number 18, which
features a dogleg fairway and pond in front of the green. If planning a
golf vacation, holiday or weekend, playing at the Delta Pinestone is
worth considering. Located on Hwy 121 just south of village of
Haliburton on the way to Minden. Overall an excellent course. Par 71 -
6100 yds. 18 hole 6100 yard par 71 public course with a slope of 141.

Bancroft
Golf Course — 613 332 2426 This golf course is
very well-maintained and all of the fairways are contoured. It's a
challenge to golfers of all abilities. The greens are small, requiring
accurate approach shots. The course utilizes a variety of different
lengths, ranging from 107 yards to the longest at 633 yards. Additional
sets of tees are available for those playing an eighteen hole round.
Rural Route 2, Bancroft, Ontario. When coming from Purdy on Highway 62,
on the left side before you really get into Bancroft – about 45 km (28
miles) from Blue Moon Retreat. Established in 1950. Par 32. Yardage
2900. Public. Bancroft is about a 40-minute from Haliburton village.
Owenbrook Golf Club — 705 656
4343 The fairways on this course are narrow and
tree lined. The terrain is hilly so there will be a lot of uneven lies.
Water hazards come into play on two holes. The greens are small, flat
and pretty fast. Rural Route 1, Apsley, Ontario.
Highlands

present a truly challenging nine-hole golf course. The golf course is
carved into an evergreen forest overlooking Sherwood Lake. Rental
clubs, pull carts and power carts are available. The closest golf
course - located on the Old Barry's Bay Road, 5km south of Barry's Bay
on the way to Combermere. 9 hole public course on the banks of Sherwood
Lake.
Marvel
Rapids Golf Course — 800 799 6103
Located in
Apsley, Ontario, this 9 hole Public course with driving range, close to
Apsley is about 90 km from Blue Moon Retreat so you might consider
playing this course on the way through. From their web site: “Eels
Creek wends its way through the course en route to Stoney Lake and
encompasses a series of rapids cascading over pre-cambrian
outcroppings." Makes a lovely Canadian holiday package destination.
Cedar Meadow Golf Course —

Located on the shore of beautiful Elephant Lake in the eastern
Highlands of Haliburton. Easily, one of the most scenic golf courses
you will ever play nine-holes located on the shore of Elephant Lake,
Harcourt. Located on Elephant Lake Road, between Maynooth and Harcourt
– turn onto the side road at the big corner entering Maynooth from
Bancroft, Ontario, Canada.
The
Country Club on Pembroke Shores — 613 732 1665
Located in Pembroke, Ontario, this 18 holes, semi-private,
with driving range. This is a ways away; but, it might be a solution if
some of the party wants to shop (in Pembroke – population 25,000) and
others want to golf.

MUSKOKA AREA GOLF COURSES
Aston Fairways Golf Club — 705 645 4520
This club is set amongst the Canadian Shield, which offers
many beautiful trees and flowers that are exceptionally
well-maintained. The layout is very much like a park setting. Hwy 118
West of Hwy 11, Bracebridge, Ontario.
Bracebridge
Golf Club — 705 645 2362 This rolling course has
tree-lined fairways that are wide open. There is a creek that runs
through the course and comes into play on 5 holes. The greens are
medium-sized and tend to be on the slow side. The signature hole is
number six, a 310-yard, par 4, which requires a tee shot to a narrow
fairway. The approach shot can also be challenging with a valley in

Muskoka
Highlands Golf Course — 705 646 1060
This links-style course was built on hilly terrain so expect a
lot of uneven lies. The fairways are wide and tree lined. Water hazards
come into play on four holes, and sand bunkers are located throughout
the course. The greens are fairly large and slow. Hwy 118, Bracebridge,
Ontario.
South
Muskoka Golf Club — 705 645 9096 This 18-hole
course features fairways that are very hilly and undulating. Many of
the fairways are narrow with several mature trees lining the edges. The
course is very scenic with many holes offering fantastic views of the
surrounding area. Water hazards come into play on several holes. The
signature hole is #8, a 173-yard, par 3, which calls for an elevated
tee shot over a large pond to a fairly large green. South Muskoka Golf
Club, 10 Golf Course Rd., Bracebridge, Ontario. A must see on your
Ontario Canada holiday packages.
Beaver
Run Golf Course — 705 762 5245 This challenging
golf course was cut out of the Muskoka terrain. The layout is heavily
wooded, with trees lining all of the fairways. The greens are
medium-sized and in great condition. The layout is great for players of
all levels, incorporating four water hazards, a few sand bunkers and
unique rock outcroppings in place of sand bunkers. The scenery on this
course is particularly beautiful in autumn when the leaves are
changing. The signature hole is #5, a 325-yard, par 4, which calls for
an elevated tee shot that must avoid a pond that is 120 yards in front
of the green. Players must decide whether to carry the tee shot over
the water or lay-up for the second shot. Beaver

Beaumaris
Golf Club — 705 764 133
This club is situated on an island in the middle of Lake
Muskoka. This unique design plays much more difficult than the yardage
indicates due to its eight par 3's, each more than 200 yards in length.
Narrow, rolling fairways and small, undulating greens protected by rock
outcroppings add to the challenge. The finishing hole is a 165-yard,
par 3, featuring a view of the lake from the elevated tee. Due to the
private nature of the club, fees are not available for publication.

Gravenhurst
KOA — 705 687 2333
Is fairly flat, but it has a few bumps and humps, a couple of
ponds and is an excellent course for a beginning golfer. Water comes
into play on four holes and one of the greens is well bunkered. The
fairways are lined with several trees and wide open, while the greens
are small, medium in speed and undulating. Reay Rd E Rural Route 3,
Gravenhurst, Ontario.
Sands
Golf Club — 705 687 7007
This scenic course was cut out of a forest and features
tree-lined fairways throughout the design. Most of the fairways are
flat and a few are dogleg configurations. Most greens are heavily
undulated. Ponds and streams come into play on seven holes, including
the signature hole, #4, a 160-yard, par 3, which requires a shot over
water to make it to the green. Twilight rates are available Monday
through Friday only and usually begin after 4 PM. Muskoka Beach Rd.,
Gravenhurst, Ontario.
KAWARTHA LAKES & AREA GOLF COURSES
Sheffield Greens — 705 738 2567
Built on predominantly flat terrain but an occasional mound
may cause an uneven lie. The fairways are wide and tree lined. A water
hazard comes into play on hole #7, a 130-yard, par 5, and sand bunkers
are sprinkled throughout the course. The greens are fairly large with
some of them being flat, while others are sloped and undulating. All of
the lush greens are fairly slow. The ladies tee off from the same set
as the men. Nogies Creek, Bobcaygeon, Ontario
Byrnell
Golf Club — 705 887 2935
A challenging course was built on hilly terrain so you might
find a few uneven lies. The fairways are wide and tree lined. Water
hazards come into play on three different holes, but there are no sand
bunkers in the design. The greens are small, very sloped and slow. The
signature hole is #8, a 215-yard, par 3, which plays entirely uphill to
a very small, sloped green. From the green, this hole overlooks the
lake and is very scenic. This facility also offers a Tyke Discount for
children nine-years-old and younger. County Rd 8 East, Fenelon Falls,
Ontario.
Sturgeon
Point Golf Club — 705 887 3144
This course was built on predominantly flat terrain, but an
occasional mound may cause an uneven lie. The fairways are wide with no
trees to snare errant shots. There are no water hazards either, but
there are some sand bunkers located throughout the course. The greens
are large, flat and fast. County Rd 25, Fenelon Falls, Ontario.
Eganridge
Inn & Country Club — 705 738 5111
Was built on hilly terrain, so expect a few uneven lies. The
fairways are wide with some of them being tree lined. Water hazards
come into play on three different holes, and there are a limited amount
of sand bunkers that come into play throughout the design. The contour
of the greens are different on each hole, but all the greens are small
and fast. The signature hole is #1, a 269-yard, par 4, which has the
green sitting right on the shore of Surgeon Lake. Rural Route 3, Fenlon
Falls, Ontario.
HUNTSVILLE AREA GOLF COURSES Deerhurst
Highlands Golf Club — 705 789 2381
A difficult course was built on very hilly terrain so expect
mostly uneven lies. The fairways are very narrow and tree lined. Water
hazards come into play on eight holes, and sand bunkers come into play
throughout the design. The greens are fairly large, severely sloped and
fast. The signature hole is #10, a 464-yard, par 4, which calls for a
tee shot off a cliff to a dogleg right fairway, then a long approach to

Deerhurst
Lakeside Golf Course — 705 789 7878
Was built on hilly terrain so there will be some uneven lies.
The fairways are narrow with a few being tree lined. The front nine has
a lot of sand, water and trees, while the back nine is more
links-style. Water hazards come into play on eight different holes, and
sand bunkers come into play throughout the design. The greens are
fairly large with some of them being sloped. The overall speed of the

Grandview

Offers 27-holes of golf. The picturesque 9-hole course is in a
setting all its own. The greens are small, slightly undulating and
medium speed, while the fairways are open and narrow. All nine holes
are well bunkered and water (lake) comes into play on five holes. The
18-hole championship Mark O’Meara designed course opened for play in
May 2001. Located north of Toronto, this mountain-style course features
rolling, tree-lined fairways. The entire course is dotted with giant
rock outcroppings from the Canadian Shield, and the large, contoured
greens roll fast. Both courses are open to guests of the resort.

setting all its own. The greens are small, slightly undulating and
medium speed, while the fairways are open and narrow. All nine holes

May 2001. Located north of Toronto, this mountain-style course features
rolling, tree-lined fairways. The entire course is dotted with giant
rock outcroppings from the Canadian Shield, and the large, contoured

Huntsville
Downs Golf Club — 705 789 4512 A very scenic and
challenging eighteen hole course that was cut through a magnificent
maple stand. The front nine is relatively flat. However, the back nine
is densely wooded with the aforementioned maples. Due to the rugged
conditions on the back nine it is suggested that only the very hardy
walk the course. All of the fairways are open throughout the design.
There are few fairway obstacles. The signature hole is number 17, a
473-yard, par 5, which is described by staff as "a gimme par 5." The
tee box has a dramatic elevation change and there is a rock wall
approximately 285 yards out that crosses the fairway. Once past the
wall golfers are treated to a flat plateau before the green. Golf
